Courses may be delivered face-to-face, online, or in a blended/hybrid combination of both online and traditional classroom teaching. This Early Childhood Education program is also offered at Ashtonbee Campus and is facilitated from Progress Campus in a winter intake with four consecutive semesters (no summer break) or in a part-time version. Our Early Learning and Childcare Certificate program is delivered in two separate formats. Our online format has five start dates and is available to part time is one course domestic students. Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) Infant and Toddler Educator Diploma is designed to prepare you with the necessary skills, knowledge and learning dispositions to be provincially certified as an early childhood educator with a specialty in the care and education of Early Childhood Education – Distance Delivery (A015) Our Distance Early Childhood Education Program is offered fully online. The ECE distance program is synchronous, meaning, classes are scheduled at a specific day and time with an expectation of online attendance.

This course provides an overview of the historical, societal, and theoretical origins of early childhood education. You will be exposed to the rationale for and process of process of planning, implementing, and evaluating developmentally appropriate programs for children from birth to age twelve in a variety of early learning and care settings. If you do not meet the English proficiency requirements, you can register for Douglas College English Upgrading courses. No placement test is required for Early Childhood Education applicants.
